What They Eat

Natural fibres (Wool, Cashmere, Silk, Fur, Carpet Pile, Upholstery).

Key Damage

Irregular holes in clothing.  Bare patches or thinning of carpet pile (especially in dark, undisturbed areas like under furniture).  Silken tubes or webbing found on fabrics or carpet backing. Shed skins or tiny faecal pellets (frass) in wardrobes or drawers.

Appearance 

Small (6-8mm), pale, golden colour. Tend to crawl or hop; do not fly actively into lights.

Wardrobes, under furniture, behind pictures, little-used rugs, carpet edges, storage boxes in the attic.

Appearance 

Larger (10-15mm), the lower half of wings are a bronze or dark colour. They fly in a distinctive 'zig-zag' pattern.
